ReadReel (the “App”) is operated by ReadReel team. ReadReel is a fiction reading platform that values and protects user privacy. This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we collect, the ways we use that information, and the steps we take to safeguard it when you use the App. By using or accessing the App, you acknowledge and accept the terms set out in this Privacy Policy.

2. Age Requirements

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly gather personal information from individuals under 13 years old.

For users located in the EU or the UK, the minimum age requirement is 16, unless parental consent has been obtained in accordance with applicable local laws.

If we become aware that an underage user has accessed the App, we will remove the related account and its associated data within 72 hours.

When you use the App, you may provide certain information directly, including:

·User-Generated Content: bookmarks, reading progress, comments, and stories uploaded by users, which are encrypted while stored.

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

We may also automatically collect certain technical and usage-related information, including:

·Device Data: operating system version, device model, IP address, which can be reset through your device settings.

·Usage Data: chapter completion statistics, feature interaction data, and crash reports.

·Cookies and Tracking Technologies: session cookies used to maintain login sessions and aggregated analytics collected through Amplitude.

4. Sharing of Information

We may share data only in limited situations and with necessary third parties, including:

·Cloud Infrastructure Providers: Amazon Web Services (AWS), which stores encrypted story data.

·Customer Service Providers: Zendesk, where support tickets and related responses are stored for 90 days.

·Legal and Regulatory Obligations: where disclosure is required under lawful requests, such as court orders.

· Corporate Transactions: if ReadReel is involved in an acquisition or similar business transfer, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction, and users will receive 30-day prior notice.

5. International Data Transfers

Your data may be stored in the United States and Germany. Where international transfers occur, we apply appropriate safeguards, including:

·the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework for users in the EU and UK; and

·Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) where relevant.

6. Purpose and Legal Basis

We process personal data for the following purposes:

·Providing Core Functionality: to sync reading progress across multiple devices and offer personalized story recommendations.

·Enhancing the User Experience: to review anonymized reading behavior and improve our content recommendation and discovery systems.

·Protecting the Platform: to identify and prevent fraudulent activity and copyright violations related to user-uploaded stories.

7. Security Practices

We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

·Encryption Standards: AES-256 encryption for user-uploaded stories and TLS 1.2+ protection for data transmitted over networks.

·Access Management: role-based employee access permissions and security audits conducted twice each year.

·Vulnerability Reporting: security researchers may report potential vulnerabilities to  contact@readreel.net.

8. Data Retention

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:

·Active Accounts: retained until the account is deleted.

·Inactive Accounts: removed after 24 months of inactivity.

·Legal and Tax Records: payment transaction records are retained for 7 years in accordance with tax law requirements.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make material updates to this Privacy Policy, such as introducing new data sharing practices, we will notify users through in-app notices or email at least 30 days before those changes become effective.
